So, I created a website called Money-Spinners because I had some time on my hands.

And time is really what this is all about. Because having money is about so much more than having things.

Things are fine; they do stuff.

But what money really buys you is time, and the choice to do what you want with that time.

At the end of 2008 I had a lot of time on my hands.

My third child had been born in 2007, and knowing it was to be the last one in our tribe I wanted to make the most of it. But I held a job that had me travelling from Monday to Friday, across several countries, during long hours.

I was away from my family, my wife was carrying the burden back at home, and then my company pushed me one step too far.

They told me I had to uproot my family and move everyone to a location that I really didn’t want to go to.

So, as my daughter turned one, I handed in my notice. It was a shame; I liked my job, rare as that sounds. And the money was good. But I also like making my own choices, and when you’re assessing what is important in life, you realise that “choice” is high on the list.

Most people know what happened in 2008. Just after handing in my notice the world economy collapsed and the chaos that followed entered the history books.

I was living in a country where English was a foreign tongue. I could speak the local lingo, but my origins tagged me as an outsider, and when the economy closes ranks so do the employers. Considered overly qualified, overly expensive, and overly foreign, the nationalists held the key to my job opportunities, and they weren’t unlocking the doors anytime soon.

Suffering inside over how to support my family, my health also took a dive. I pulled long days sifting through hundreds of possibilities to earn some sort of living. Days that were just as long as I had been working before, but this time there was no pay, and a lot of desperation.

I began a learning process that has served me well over time. From negotiating a foreign administration’s paperwork to create a business (that ultimately failed), to learning skills that I never dreamed I could acquire.

Money-Spinners is an “Income Ideas Factory” that is many things to many people. For some it’s a way of learning how to make ends meet without going into debt. For other it’s learning how to Freelance their skills and increase their income.

For many, it’s the first step towards the independence of creating extra income without relying on others.

For everybody it’s hands-down the cheapest way to learn how to build money-spinning projects. If you can connect to the internet, you’re good.

Every one of us has skills. From being able to provide a kindly service helping your local community to selling products and ideas on a global scale.

We all have ideas, big and small. What we’re missing most is how to put those ideas into practice, reach people we can serve, and make a comfortable living on the proceeds.

Today the Internet provides the vehicle to do all of that, and the flexibility to do it when, where, and however you choose. All that’s asked of you is some dedication.

Everything on here has been checked by me, but while the communities in Discord or Telegram are a wealth of up-to-date information, they’re also open targets for scammers. If you see a scam, please report it to your social community Admin and make the world a happier, safer place.

I didn’t talk about Smart Puppy and his lab. Well, it’s not really a lab, however I like to imagine it. For me, it was my kitchen table; it was my laptop perched on my knees; it was a park bench whenever I needed to get some air and take time to reflect. For you, I’m sure it will be the same. Nothing starts in huge offices. Ideas are hatched in your mind, and the upside of that is that your mind can be as large as you’re willing to let it be.

And Smart Puppy, next door’s dog. When things are tough, sometimes you just need a friend that can listen.

Dogs are great at that.

They never judge.

They’re always happy to see you.

And they take your mind off whatever troubles you may be having.

And that…that’s when the magic happens.
