Become an Amazon FBA Seller

What’s do an Amazon Sellers Do?

Over 50% of the items for sale on Amazon aren’t sold by Amazon at all. That doesn’t mean that Amazon doesn’t process all the orders, just that the products are owned by other people – Amazon FBA Sellers.

The FBA system gives you the opportunity to leverage the power of this enormous global sales machine to create your own products and begin building your own brand.

It makes sense. One of the first places people will go to look and compare products in on Amazon. Either Amazon comes up top of the search results, or the first Ad on the page is from Amazon.

And here’s another thing. Amazon handles all the selling logistics for you. Once you get your stock sent to the Amazon warehouse, they’ll rack it, store it, process your sales, despatch it and get it delivered for you. All hands free.

Anything from a simple phone case to a garden chair. You don’t have to be innovative, just sell something that you know already sells well. You buy them at trade rates from the manufacturer and sell them at high street rates under your own brand name on Amazon.

You don’t need to build your own website. You don’t need storage space. You don’t need warehouse staff processing and packing products, or delivery vans at the door.

Who’s it for?

  • Anyone who dreams of owning their own brand
  • Anyone who already sells but needs a bigger market
  • Anyone trying to start a business from zero
  • Anyone who doesn’t mind sourcing products

Skills

  • Ability to research good product ideas
  • Ability to source products
  • Good marketing skills will help
  • Willingness to learn will get you 90% of the way

Start Up

Start with research. Look on Amazon at best sellers, trends, or new to market products with low competition.

Once you have some ideas you have a couple of choices:

  1. If it’s an item that can be made locally, find manufacturers in your country and get in touch. Ask if they will produce “white label” goods. That means the same products that they already produce, but with a different label slapped on them. Your label!
  2. If it can’t be done locally, go to Alibaba.com. You can sign up for a free business account. You’ll be able to get in contact directly with product manufacturers and begin getting quotes. If necessary, get samples sent to you and compare the quality.

Figure out the best option and then start getting creative. Brand names, logos and packaging will need dreaming up. If you don’t have ideas, all these tasks can be outsourced simply and cheaply.

Once you have this figured out, your chosen manufacture will produce everything for you.

In the meantime, set up your Amazon FBA account and create the product listings ready to accept the goods. When your manufacturer has finished production Amazon will designate a storage facility to send the products to. Your manufacturer can despatch them directly to the warehouse.

How You Make Your Income

Start with one product. Work out your price point to be competitive. Don’t be greedy, you’re in launch mode.

Work on some marketing strategies to successfully launch your product.

Amazon will charge you a fixed fee for processing each sale. The fee will depend on which product category you’re in.

Every 14 days Amazon will deduct their fees from your sales and transfer money into your bank account. The profit margin will go directly in your own pocket.

Focus on making that one product a success. Then copy and paste the process to build a successful product line and scale your new brand.
